Summer Weddings - How to keep your guests cool!

Planning an outdoor summer wedding is a great idea, particularly if you want a picturesque and charming garden location, like Marybank (wink wink). But keep in mind that the heat may cause discomfort to your guests, so here are some additional tips to help everyone stay comfortable:

  1. Have a backup plan: Even with all the planning in the world, the weather can be unpredictable. Make sure you have a backup plan in case of rain or extreme heat. Consider hiring umbrellas or if wet a marquee as a backup option.

  2. Provide sunscreen: It's easy to forget about sun protection when caught up in the excitement of a wedding. Consider providing sunscreen for your guests, so they don't have to worry about getting sunburnt.

  3. Keep bugs away: Gardens can be beautiful, but they can also attract bugs. Use citronella candles (in jars for fire safety of course) or provide insect spray to keep the pesky insects away.

  4. Consider your guests dress code: If you're planning a summer garden wedding, consider choosing a dress code that is comfortable and cool for your guests. You may want to suggest light-colored clothing or even provide fans or parasols as wedding favours.

  5. Choose the right flowers: When selecting flowers for your garden wedding, choose ones that can withstand the heat. Speak to your florist about options that can withstand high temperatures and humidity.

  6. Offer fans: Set up fans around the ceremony and reception areas to help circulate the air and keep your guests cool. You can use handheld fans or rent large fans to keep the air moving.

  7. Hire a gelato cart: Offer your guests plenty of cold drinks and gelati to help them keep cool.

By considering these additional tips, you can ensure that your Marybank garden wedding is not only beautiful but also comfortable and enjoyable for all your guests.
